hi, i’m daniel

I live in Berlin, where I’m able to do what I always wanted: make people smile and dance.
I get inspired by the little things and never stop dreaming big. Btw, I love my life…

Born 1979 in Germany, grew up in Munich, Paris and on the road through the USA. Moved to Berlin 1989 before the Berlin Wall came down. Started writing own songs at the age of 12. Played ice hockey for many years. After a ligament rupture the doctors told me I can’t do sports anymore. Nonetheless, I started doing martial arts, and became Berlin Champion in Kickboxing. Coming from a Hip Hop background, I fell in love with Reggae and Dancehall music in the late 90s and started to learn Jamaican slang. Graduated A-levels in 1999 and wanted to do something cool with music and marketing. And I always wanted to become my own boss and start my own business, but had a long way to go...

Became audiovisual media manager, worked in sales, marketing and business development. Was junior online marketing manger and board assistant of a big software company. Created a product presentation for to the richest man in Germany. Started hosting parties and festivals as MC and got into Soca music, the carnival music of the Caribbean. Performed in front of thousands of soccer fans after the football world cup finals 2006 in Berlin, and on Carnival trucks in Berlin, Trinidad, London and Rotterdam. Interviewed Mighty Sparrow, the "King of Calypso", Machel Montano, the "King of Soca", and once met (one of my greatest musical inspirations besides 2Pac) Vybz Kartel, the "King of Dancehall". Won the award for "Soca DJ Mix of the Year" and "International Soca DJ of the Year".

Got to know lots of great people while traveling half the world. Studied audio engineering and music business at the SAE Berlin and got a Bachelors degree from Middlesex University of London. Learned a lot about the music business, marketing, design, web development, psychology and social dynamics. Built up my own recording studio. Refused a request to participate on the TV casting show "The Voice of Germany" with several million viewers. Won the SAE Alumni Award for "Best Music Production".

Recorded Billboard artists Kranium and Bunji Garlin (in my bedroom) and supported live shows as MC/host with Billboard artists such as Machel Montano, Mavado, Rupee, Serani, Mad Cobra, Mr Vegas and Grammy Award winners Jimmy Cliff and Joss Stone. Was on the mic with Walshy Fire of Major Lazer and worked on several songs with Jr. Blender, who currently produces hits for Bruno Mars, Beyonce and Justin Bieber.

Founded YouTunez in 2010 to help musicians and independent labels sell their music. Currently trying to reinvent the online music business. I’m truly thankful for all the memories, inspired by life, and still hungry.

PS: One of my latest passions besides music & life is photography. Take a look at my pics.
